Shakur Stevenson Backs Errol Spence to Overwhelm Tim Tszyu: “He’ll Get Destroyed

Shakur Stevenson has shared his prediction for the upcoming clash between Errol Spence Jr. and Tim Tszyu, suggesting that one fighter will face a crushing defeat when they meet on July 25.

The two have reportedly agreed to square off in Australia at a catchweight of 158lbs, despite Tszyu’s push to face the former unified welterweight champion at 154lbs. It was at super-welterweight where the Australian claimed his world title, defeating Brian Mendoza before losing the WBO belt to Sebastian Fundora.

Their first encounter ended in a split decision in 2024, with Tszyu suffering a punishing seventh-round stoppage loss to ‘The Towering Inferno’ last July. That defeat came just two fights after an even more devastating night against Bakhram Murtazaliev, whose third-round finish has raised questions about Tszyu’s world-class credentials.

Similar doubts have surfaced regarding Spence’s current form, as the 36-year-old has not fought since his ninth-round stoppage loss to Terence Crawford in 2023. By the time he returns against Tszyu, he will have been inactive for three years, this time competing at just 2lbs below the middleweight limit.

Prior to the Crawford defeat, Spence was widely seen as the top champion at 147lbs, even after surviving a life-threatening car crash in 2019. It is this experience that led Stevenson, speaking on *The Agnew Podcast*, to predict an unfavorable outcome for Tszyu.

“I got Errol. I don’t think Tim Tszyu can do anything with him. I don’t see Tim Tszyu being the [only other] guy to beat Errol. I feel like that experience [Spence] has doesn’t go nowhere. For me, personally, I feel like an in-the-box fighter like Tim Tszyu is going to get destroyed [fighting] like that [against Spence].”

Before the loss to Crawford, Spence had notched victories over Danny Garcia and Yordenis Ugas, both coming after his near-career-ending car crash.
