World No. 20 Luciano Darderi of Italy advanced to the fourth round of the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome after defeating American Tommy Paul (world No. 18) with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday. 
The match lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes. Darderi fired five aces, committed no double faults, and converted four of nine break points. Paul hit five aces, had three double faults, and converted two of four break points.
For a spot in the quarterfinals in Rome, Darderi will face world No. 3 Alexander Zverev of Germany.
