Liverpool has released plans for a permanent memorial honoring former winger Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who tragically died in a car accident. The tribute, titled “Forever 20,” pays homage to Jota’s squad number during his time at the club.
At the heart of the installation is a heart-shaped sculpture, mirroring the goal celebration gesture Jota often made. When viewed from different angles, the artwork reveals the numbers 20 and 30—the jersey numbers worn by the two brothers.

The memorial will also feature lyrics from a song that Liverpool fans sing in Jota’s memory at the 20th minute of every match. Designed in granite from Granby Rock, the structure includes laser engravings dedicated to both siblings. Foundational elements incorporate items left by fans at Anfield, such as flowers, scarves, letters, banners, and shirts from rival clubs—turning the location into an organic tribute site.
The club confirmed the sculpture will be officially unveiled at a later date and will be placed on 97th Avenue, the spot where supporters spontaneously gathered to pay their respects after the tragedy. Selected features also reflect Diogo’s life beyond football.
Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva died on July 3 in a road accident. According to Spain’s Guardia Civil, the crash was caused by a tire blowout while overtaking, causing the vehicle to leave the road.
