Désiré Doué sparked celebrations at the Parc des Princes as Paris Saint-Germain edged Stade Brestois 1-0 in Ligue 1 action.
On Sunday evening, PSG hosted Brest in the 33rd round of the French top flight. In a tightly contested encounter marked by multiple stoppages, the capital side relied on Désiré Doué to secure the victory.
PARIS — Under heavy rain at the Parc des Princes, PSG and Brest took the pitch. Controlled well by their opponents, the hosts had to give everything to claim the win.
The Parisians came out with intensity, attacking down the flanks and holding possession to unsettle the visitors. Brest showed resilience, absorbing pressure and occasionally threatening through the right side. After an early scare, PSG regained control. Dro Fernández had chances, and Lee Kang-in tested Brest goalkeeper Grégoire Coudert in the opening 20 minutes. Fabián Ruiz also tried his luck but without success.
Brest’s best spell came around the half-hour mark, with Junior Dina Ebimbe putting pressure on Renato Marin. However, the rhythm was broken by a technical issue with the referee’s communication system due to the heavy rain, causing a seven-minute stoppage.
PSG took the initiative again after the break, but the first half ended 0-0.
After the interval, fans set off flares, halting play once more until the smoke cleared. Paris continued to face a stubborn Brest defense. The introduction of Désiré Doué injected fresh energy into the attack. Later, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came on to try to break the deadlock.
Senny Mayulu came close in the 69th minute, hitting the crossbar. Chances kept coming, and finally, Doué made his mark in his 100th appearance, firing a low, powerful shot to score the winner.
Thanks to his contribution, PSG took a giant step toward the title before visiting Lens on Wednesday. Brest finished the match in 12th place.
