Enzo Boyomo (Toulouse, France, 2001) has been one of the standout names in Osasuna’s impressive season, as the club aims for a European spot in the final stretch of the campaign. The Cameroon international center-back is eager to prove he can hold his own against top-tier opposition. “I can already play at the highest level, that’s why I want Osasuna to reach Europe,” he tells AS.
This Tuesday, he faces Julian Alvarez, Antoine Griezmann, and/or Alexander Sorloth. If he could choose, who would he leave out?
“You always want to face the best, to test yourself. That’s every player’s ambition. Measure yourself against the best to show your ability. I have to be ready no matter who plays.”
But Griezmann, Alvarez, and Sorloth are very different profiles…
“They are, of course. But so are Mbappé or Lewandowski, and you have to play against them. Every striker has their own traits. The key is knowing the opponent you’re facing, being prepared for what they might try, and trusting in your strengths.”
Which type of striker do you feel most comfortable against?
“It doesn’t matter to me. The only thing I always aim for is to have a good day. I love battling the best, I enjoy playing against them, testing myself every day. Here at Osasuna, I’m lucky to work daily with a spectacular striker like Budimir. He helps me improve every day.”
What kind of match do you expect? Because Atlético has nothing left to play for, while you’re coming off a loss to Levante after leading 0-2.
“What happened in Valencia we have to forget. We still have options to fight for European places, and we’ll fight for it until the end. That’s Osasuna’s mentality—always fighting for every point.”
You seem happy in Pamplona.
“I am. Osasuna has shown for years that it’s a strong LaLiga team. They’ve been competing for Europe for years. I’m very happy here.”
So it sounds like you made the right decision moving from Real Valladolid to Osasuna.
“They’re both important clubs to me, yes. At Osasuna, I feel loved, respected, and I have consistency. As I said, I’m happy.”
Do you have a lingering desire to play in the Premier League after your time in Blackburn’s youth setup?
“It’s a competition I like, of course. It’s one of the best in the world. But LaLiga is too. I feel ready to compete with the best.”
Do you see yourself making another career jump or returning to the Premier League in the future?

“I’m young and still have a lot to improve and give. Right now I’m happy here and I only think about helping to get Osasuna into Europe. I can already play at the highest level, that’s why I want Osasuna in Europe.”
