Xie Weijun has reached a significant career milestone, making his 200th appearance for Tianjin Jinmen Tigers during their Chinese Super League match against Zhejiang FC on May 10. The game ended in a 1-1 draw at the 11th round of the season.
The 28-year-old forward came off the bench in the 72nd minute. However, the milestone was overshadowed when an 82nd-minute free kick from Zhejiang’s foreign player Mitriță deflected off Xie’s leg and went into the net, giving the opponent an equalizer. According to a report from Tianjin Daily, the unfortunate deflection cast a shadow over what should have been a celebratory night for Xie. The coaching staff later noticed his dejected mood after the match.
Despite the setback, reaching the 200-game mark underscores Xie Weijun’s long-standing contribution to the club.
