Paris Saint-Germain secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Brest at the Parc des Princes on Sunday, with the only goal coming from midfielder Désiré Doué in the 82nd minute. Doué headed home from a Lucas Hernandez cross to break the deadlock.
Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov was once again an unused substitute, as Italian shot-stopper Renato Marin started between the posts for PSG. The 1-0 result extends PSG’s lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table to six points over second-placed Lens. Luis Enrique’s side now sit on 73 points from 33 matches, and they can secure the league title as early as Wednesday if they avoid defeat in a direct clash against Lens at home.
Brest, meanwhile, remain in 12th place with 38 points. The match was a tight affair for most of the 90 minutes, but PSG’s dominance eventually paid off. The hosts registered 23 shots compared to Brest’s three, with six on target against two. PSG also had 13 corners to Brest’s two, reflecting their territorial advantage.
With just a few games remaining, PSG are on the verge of another Ligue 1 crown, and the team will be looking to finish the job against their closest rivals.
